Forschung Ostschweizer Kinderspital (FOKS)

Im Ostschweizer Kinderspital gehen klinischer Alltag und Forschung bereits seit vielen Jahren Hand in Hand. Klinische Studien auf hohem wissenschaftlichen Niveau helfen uns, die Erkrankungen des Kindesalters besser zu verstehen. So können wir unsere Behandlungsmethoden für die uns anvertrauten Kinder und Jugendlichen stetig verbessern und den bestmöglichen medizinischen Standard sicherstellen. 

Unsere eigenen klinischen Studien basieren auf einer engen interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit. Zudem nehmen wir auch an verschiedenen nationalen und internationalen Studien und Forschungsprojekten teil und sind gleichzeitig Mitglied in verschiedenen Forschungsnetzwerken wie zum Beispiel dem SwissPednet.

Darüber hinaus sind wir Mitglied der Schweizerischen Pädiatrischen Onkologie Gruppe (SPOG). Diese ist eine gemeinnützige Organisation, welche sich durch patientenorientierte Krebsforschung für verbesserte Behandlungsmöglichkeiten und höhere Lebensqualität an Krebs erkrankter Kinder und Jugendlicher einsetzt.

Ausserdem erheben wir Daten für das nationale Schweizer Kinderkrebsregister. Dieses erfasst Neuerkrankungen, dokumentiert die Behandlung und beinhaltet Langzeituntersuchungen.
